Apple officially unveiled iOS 27 at its Worldwide Developers Conference on June 8, 2026. This year's biggest change is Siri AI — a completely rebuilt version of Siri that works more like ChatGPT than the old Siri you are used to. On top of that, Apple has expanded Apple Intelligence across all core apps, redesigned parental controls, and added smart new tools to Photos, Wallet, and Messages. 🇮🇳 What This Means for Indian iPhone Users
- iOS 27 is a free update for all supported iPhones from iPhone 11 onwards. No cost at all.
- To get Siri AI and Apple Intelligence, you need at minimum an iPhone 15 Pro, which costs around Rs. 1,19,900 in India. iPhone 16 starts at Rs. 79,900 and also gets full AI features.
- If you are using iPhone 13, 14, or standard iPhone 15, you will get iOS 27 but none of the Siri AI or Apple Intelligence features. The update still brings performance improvements, new parental controls, and Wallet upgrades.
- Siri AI is currently only in English. No Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, or other Indian language support announced yet. This is a major limitation for many Indian users.
- India is not the EU, so iOS 27 restrictions related to Digital Markets Act do not apply here. Indian users will get Siri AI normally once they have a compatible device.
- The public beta arriving in July is free to try at beta.apple.com, but install it on a secondary device only since it will have bugs.
- Full stable iOS 27 is expected around September 14, 2026, coming pre-installed on iPhone 18 models.
Our Take
iOS 27 is the most AI-focused iPhone update Apple has ever shipped. Siri AI is a genuine upgrade that puts Apple back in the AI conversation after years of falling behind. But for most Indian users on iPhone 13, 14, or standard iPhone 15, the headline features will not be available. If you are on iPhone 15 Pro or 16 series, this update is worth getting excited about. For everyone else, iOS 27 still brings solid improvements to Photos, Wallet, Parental Controls, and performance.
Should you install the beta? Only if you have a spare iPhone. Beta software has bugs and can affect daily use. Wait for the public stable release in September for your primary phone.
